One of the most important elements to understanding the complex arena of Family Land Preservation is experience dealing with the many possible scenarios that can confront and confound land owners. Through his many years in the field, Steve Small has acquired experience dealing with a variety of different types of land preservation.

  • Advising government agencies and non-profits on how to leverage land acquisition dollars through tax-advantaged planning and legal planning for landowners.
  • Extensive consultation with government agencies and non-profits on a wide range of private land protection projects.
  • Coordinating project teams on extensive and complex planning for maximum income tax benefits in connection with charitable contributions and bargain sales of high-value land and high-value conservation easements.
  • Advising and planning for conservation buyers.
  • Representing individual and corporate clients in structuring bargain sales of easements and land to conservation organizations and government agencies.
